Contemporary art sales were on a tear throughout the year, and the high prices seen in the spring auctions in New York were just a prelude to the fall, when most of the record prices in the year's top 20 lots were achieved. A wealth of rare-to-market works by in-demand Postwar and contemporary artists like Francis Bacon, Jeff Koons, and Andy Warhol made for scores of eight-figure sales, and Sotheby’s and Christie’s could each boast a $100-million-plus work at the top of its evening contemporary sale last month. Although most of the top selling contemporary lots were seen at spring and fall auctions in New York over the past year, one top price, the $23.3 million result for for Zeng Fanzhi's "The Last Supper" (2001) was achieved at Sotheby's Hong Kong in a sale held October 5.
Even as astonished observers wondered whether such results could continue, Brett Gorvy, Christie’s worldwide head of Postwar and contemporary art, asserted, “this isn’t a bubble, it’s the beginning of something new.” The house, which had already turned heads in the spring with a $495 million evening sale of contemporary art, managed to top that with a $691.6 million comparable in November.
Both Christie's and Sotheby's saw robust growth this year; Christie’s New York contemporary sales rose to $1.4 billion in 2013, from $973.5 million in 2012; Sotheby’s 2013 tally for major New York sales also rose sharply, to $851.7 million from $794.7 million in 2012.
彼の最も有名な写真は『Legendary kiss V–J day in Times Square(勝利のキス)』でしょう。
